The Railway Board has finally given sanction to existing first class passengers to board the AC train from Monday by paying the difference but with limitations for about six months.
All existing first class passengers, who only hold the Monthly Season Ticket will be allowed to travel in the AC local by collecting the difference of fare between 1st class and AC fare. The same applies for first class single journey tickets, with effect from Monday 22nd January, 2018.
In case of first class monthly pass holders, the difference of fare shall be collected for the entire month irrespective of days left in the pass validity as per validity. This facility shall be extended through booking counters for which CRIS will be making the necessary changes in the software and till such changes are made, it will be done manually by the Chief Booking Supervisors by issuing paper tickets.
Similarly, the 1st class suburban single journey ticket holders shall be allowed to travel in AC local and TTE shall collect the difference of fare without any penalty. The facility of allowing commuters to travel in AC local by paying the difference of fare to 1st class MST/ single journey suburban ticket holders shall be effective from 22nd January and shall be extended up to 26th January. Since a monthly season ticket is available in AC local currently, this facility has been extended to 1st class MST holders only.
