So, who is the real Salman Khan? Why is he the way he is? December 27, which happens to be the date on which the star hits 50, will see the release of a book that looks deeper (we hope) into the life of the enigmatic bad boy of Bollywood.

Titled, Being Salman, it has been written by journalist Jasim Khan and delves into Salman’s family lineage and his personal history to reveal interesting vignettes and unknown facts about the star. We’ll wait to pass judgment on this one.

This film has been officially selected for more than 100 film festivals in different parts of the world since its world premiere in USA at HP Lovecraft film festival in May. A rare feat for an Indian short film in the horror/suspense genre. Awakenings has also won 15 international awards and garnered 18 other nominations.

Saikia is upbeat and already onto his next project. “I am writing another horror film, but this time it is feature length. I hope success of Awakenings will help me get the horror feature film funded soon. Film festivals have enabled me to network with genre filmmakers and festival programmers from all over the world,” the filmmaker said.

Mind over matter
Chairman of Tata Trusts, Ratan Tata, was caught in deep thought at an awards function held at the YB Chavan auditorium last evening.

“Playing at our first ever festival in India was incredible!! We had a great time wandering around during the day and checking out the amazing line-up. When we hit the stage, the audience were so welcoming and danced the whole time; what a rush!

We danced until we were exhausted! We both cannot wait until we get to play in Pune and Bangalore!” said Jack. The Pierce Brothers play in Pune on December 5 and in Bangalore on December 6.
