Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced HSC results on Monday. These results have brought a cheer amidst the student community as the overall pass percentage of the state stands at 84.04%, which is 11.54% higher than last year.

Similarly, the overall pass percentage of students who appeared for the exams in Mumbai stood at 81.13%, pointing at a 12.03% increase compared to 2013 results. Board officials stated that the results clearly indicates that students are finally getting used to the upgraded syllabus since the results have improved remarkably this year.

“Students have done extremely well this year and while individual scores are good this year, even the combined overall pass percentage of the different streams has gone up compared to last year,” said Mumbai division board chairman, Laxmikant Pande. Last year, the overall pass percentage of Arts stream stood at an all time low at 59% but this year, the percentage has gone up to 76.59%.

Statistics provided by the board also point at a hike in the number of students scoring distinction and above this year. Similarly, individual subjects too have bettered their scores compared to 2013.

While the state board has done away with the process of announcing overall toppers, individual colleges are calculating the scores of their students and are noticing a hike in the number of 90% scorers as well.
