MUMBAI sex crime: Security guard abducts, rapes 9-yr-old girl

Four days after a 30-year-old security guard abducted a nine-year-old girl and raped her in a municipal garden, Charkop police managed to nab him from Rajkot on Monday. The accused had fled the city after committing the heinous crime. The accused has been identified as Dhaveer Thapa.

According to the police, Thapa had come to meet survivor’s father on March 6, as they knew each other. After spending some time at the house, the accused asked the minor if she wanted to go to a nearby garden with him. The girl’s father was not present while the mother was occupied with work when he lured her. Thapa took the girl to a municipal garden, sector 3 in Charkop and under the cover of darkness raped the girl, said the police. He then dropped her at the house and fled.

The following day, the girl started complaining of terrible pain and was rushed to the hospital. Initially, she did not speak out about the incident, as she was afraid. When medical reports confirmed she was sexually assaulted, the parents approached the local police station.

The girl later confided and narrated the entire incident to the cops, and showed them the place where she was raped.
A police team was formed to investigate the case and cops received a tip off that accused was taking refuge in Rajkot.

“The accused was arrested from Rajkot on Monday. He will be brought to Mumbai. He is charged under section 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape) and several sections under protection of children from sexual offences,” said DCP Balsingh Rajput.
