Sandhya doesn't remember her parents; doctors and patients at civic hospital have been taking care of her for a month
Three year-old Sandhya has called the Rajwadi Hospital at Ghatkopar her home ever since she was found at the Ghatkoper railway station with a fractured left leg on December 26 last year. Unable to identify her parents, the cheerful girl has now become a favourite resident with everyone at the hospital. 
"She couldn't remember her parents' names, nor her address. She only knew her own name. When we asked her about her father, she ignored the question. She says she wants to stay in the hospital. The hospital staff has even arranged a bed for her," says Dr Rajani, medical officer of the ward where Sandhya currently stays.
Rekha Mane, a relative of a patient admitted in the same ward, says, "Sandhya is a naughty girl, and makes friends easily. A lot of people have asked the doctors here if they can adopt her. All of us, doctors, and relatives of patients bring her snacks to munch on, and toys."
Dr Rajini says, "Her leg is healing, and she is no longer afraid of strangers like she first was. She is now part of our family. Most patients have struck up an emotional bond with her."
It's been over a month, and the hospital has not received a missing child's complaint from the police. "She is safe and happy here, but the police should make an attempt to trace her family members," says Dr Rajani.
