The 43-year-old former media executive was brought to the state-run facility from Byculla Women’s prison on Wednesday after her platelet levels dropped.

Hospital Dean T P Lahane said that though Indrani’s platelet count had dipped, she has not been diagnosed with dengue. Her tests (for dengue) are negative, he said.

After hospitalisatiosn, the levels improved considerably, Lahane said, adding that a dip in platelet levels may sometimes occur due to fever.

Lahane said a decision on Indrani’s discharge would be taken on Thursday evening, after a thorough medical examination and a platelet count check. She is said to have been suffering from fever and body ache for almost a week.

On Wednesday, prison authorities had informed a magistrate court that Indrani was suspected to have dengue as her platelet count dipped to 65,000. Magistrate R V Adone had directed the prison authorities to produce Indrani in view of the application made by CBI seeking her voice samples.

Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamvar Rai are currently in judicial custody. The three are accused of killing Indrani’s 24-year-old daughter Sheena and disposing the body in a forest in April 2012.
