Around nine kids playing outside their residences in Kalyan suffered dog bites on Saturday evening. They were shifted to Rukmani Bai Hospital where doctors denied them admission claiming they don't have anti-rabbies injection.

The nine were busy playing at Shivram Patil chawl based in Kolshewadi in Kalyan East, when a stray dog started attacking them.

Among the nine, who were injured in the attack, around 5 of were shifted to Rukmani Bai a civic hospital for treatment, while others were shifted to private hospital in Kalyan.

The five shifted, who were admitted to Rukmani Bai include, Samrudi Magade, 9, Vedant Shinde, 5, Kajol Pawar, 9, Bhavish Divekar, 6 and Dhanalaxmi Sonawane, 8. “Most of them have suffered injuries on their hands, legs and thighs.

Sanjita Gaikwad, a Shiv-Sena Corporator from Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, who came to the children's aid said, “There was no medicine available at the civic-run hospital. I spoke with the Mayor of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, who assures he will see that the medicine is made available. The authorities from the hospital were not ready to admit them. But we assured them payment of cash and managed to acquire the anti-rabbies medicine from a private hospital. They have started the treatment now. Since it was a deep bite to the kids, who had suffered injuries treatment on time was needed.”
