Jundal was produced before the court at 11.15 am, after which he was called in the witness box, and as many as 22 charges with the addition of one more were framed against him.

The charges framed by special TADA court Judge G A Sanap against Jundal are criminal conspiracy, waging war against the nation, murder, kidnapping for murder, cheating and forgery under the Indian Penal Code, along with the charges under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Act, Explosive Substance Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, Railways Act and Customs Act.

Speaking to mid-day, Investigating Officer Ramesh Mahale said, “One additional charge, that is Section 109 of IPC, which says the offence was abetted by Jundal by sitting in Pakistan, was added making it total of 23 charges against Jundal.”

After framing of charges, Jundal denied all the allegations before the court. According to prosecution, the accused, along with Ajmal Kasab and his other associates, had entered into criminal conspiracy to wage war against the country.

Jundal was allegedly operating the entire Mumbai 2008 terror attacks sitting in a control room outside the country. Jundal, who was nabbed in Saudi Arabia and deported to India in 2012, is currently lodged in a high security Anda cell at Arthur Road jail.
