Sunita Rambal, the cover girl of a men's lifestyle magazine, has been petrified of anonymous calls for the past week from a person claiming to be an international pimp, who allegedly wants her to indulge his clients. According to her, the person on the other end of the line, who was solicitous in the beginning, turned menacing with his caveats of kidnapping her if she did not do his bidding, forcing her to file a police complaint.u00a0u00a0

Sunita told MiD DAY that the caller said to her, "I have seen your bikini-clad pictures and want you to be introduced to my clients for (your services) for three days. The 21-year-old model, popular for her bikini-clad pictures published in the current issue of Debonair magazine, has been receiving the calls for the past week. She ignored them initially, but the caller started getting abusive and persistent. She confided in her friends who told her to seek police help. So on the night of May 19, 2011, she lodged a non-cognisable offence at the Nerul police station under Section 507 of the IPC (for receiving abusive calls from anonymous caller).
Sunita, who lives with her mother in Nerul, said, "Initially, the calls were sober. But after I decided to be harsh with the caller, his language drastically turned vulgar and abusive. It was too scary and I called up my friends who coaxed me to approach the lawmakers."
She said that the caller further threatened her by saying, "I want to meet you and if you don't agree to my terms I shall get you killed." Sunita's mother is out of town.u00a0 As per Sunita, the caller had a slight American accent and spoke Hindi fluently.
"The model approached us and we have registered a non-cognisable complaint against the unidentified caller. We are investigating the matter," said Police Sub-Inspector A Sawant, attached to Nerul police station in Navi Mumbai. Ironically, a fortnight ago, item girl and reality show personality Liza Malik too had allegedly received similar calls from an international bookmaker to become a middle person between cricket players for the IPL matches, since the model was known to them.
