Mumbai Police file FIR in Ghatkopar violence case

Mumbai Police registered an FIR against unidentified persons of the mob in Ghatkopar violence case under relevant sections of IPC & Maharashtra Police Act.

Mumbai Police has registered an FIR in the Ghatkopar violence case. The case refers to a mob surrounding Ghatkopar Police Station and creating a ruckus there after a city-based cleric was detained there by Gujarat ATS. 


Gujarat ATS detained Maulana Mufti Salman Azhari at Ghatkopar Police Station about a hate speech case filed against him; following this hundreds gathered outside station and disturbed the law and order situation.



Despite pleadings from the cleric Mufti Salman Azhari himself, the mob refused to leave the station premises. Thence, the cops had to lathi charge to bring the situation under control and to disperse the mob. After the use of force, the mob left the place.

The Mumbai Police registered an FIR against the unidentified persons of the mob in the Ghatkopar violence case under Sections 353, 332, 333, 341, 336, 337, 338, 141, 143, 145, 147, 149 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.
