The Kandivali police arrested a 61-year-old man who allegedly made a hoax call about a terror attack at Mantralaya in Mumbai. He had made a call to the police control room on Monday, an official said on Tuesday.

The accused, who has been identified as Prakash Khemani, was apprehended last night from the Mathuradas Lane area of Kandivali West in Mumbai.

According to police sources, this is not his first offense. He has been allegedly harassing the Kandivali police by repeatedly calling the police control room. When the police officers respond to his calls, he asks them for food. If they refuse, he allegedly threatens to call the police control room again.

"He is mentally unstable, and the entire society where he used to live is fed up with his outrageous antics. Even his family and relatives have distanced themselves from him. He is living alone in a building located on Mathuradas Road, Kandivali West," said an officer.

He has been booked and arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced before the court today and the court remanded him to judicial custody, said Senior Inspector Sandeep Vishwasrao of the Kandivali police station.
