A 13-year-old boy has been booked by the police after a 14-year-old girl lodged a complaint against a certain ‘youth’ who had been blackmailing her with her objectionable video. The ‘youth’ turned out to be the teenage boy from her own school who had filmed the video when they were video chatting.

As per an India Today report, the complaint says that the girl accepted a friend request from an unknown user during the lockdown. They started chatting and slowly became friends.
They duo were playing a game of truth and dare during a call when the boy asked the girl to strip as a “dare.” Oblivious to the fact that he was recording the video, the girl stripped. The police says that they boy was using a high-end phone as screen-recording option is only available in a few phones. And he was well versed with the features.
Later, the boy started blackmailing her and pressured to give in to his demands. The girl complied with him after which he asked her to strip in a few more occasions. But the girl blocked him. He then sent the video to one of her friends, who also blocked him.
The girl’s friend alerted her and she finally reached out to the police.
The IP address was traced and it was found that the boy lived in the same suburb and went to the same school. The boy’s parents were shocked to know about the incident and revealed that he spent a lot of time in his room during the lockdown.
The police have sent him a notice as it’s his first offence. He has been asked to remain present before the children’s court at the time of filing of the chargesheet.
