The police said that the deceased had come back home after visiting her patents around 8.30 am when an argument ensued between the couple. As the argument escalated, an infuriated Lalit attacked his wife. He used a sharp object and slit her throat killing her on the spot.
The accused then left the house and subsequently got in touch with a relative and a friend in the police force and informed them about the murder, the police were quoted as saying in the PTI report. The accused, who was employed as a security guard, had married the victim six years ago. He suspected her of having an affair and had reportedly secured call record details from her phone before murdering his wife.
A similar incident was reported from Karnataka’s Bengaluru on Monday. A 27-year-old man was arrested for bludgeoning his live-in partner to death with a pressure cooker. The accused suspected her of infidelity. The couple hailing from Kerala, had been living together in an apartment in MICO Layout and had been having fights since the accused—Vaishnav, an engineering graduate—suspected that his partner Deva had been unfaithful; the two continued to fight despite intervention from the victim's sister. Her closeness to another man fuelled Vaishnav's anger and after a heated argument, he killed her. The accused, who was absconding since the killing, was arrested by Bengaluru police on August 28 and is currently being interrogated.
