Mumbai crime branch officers on Thursday arrested two consultants for providing fake degrees of various accredited universities for Rs 1-3 lakh.

Proprietors of Prime Safaire Education in Borivli East, Pritesh Sohanlal Jain (34) and Raviprakash Maurya (26) sold fake certificates and mark sheets of various private institutes approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu. Cops recovered 200 such fake certificates on searching the premises.

“So far we have traced 10 people who procured degrees from the accused,” an official said.
“The duo was presented before the court and was remanded in police custody till January 27. Further investigation is underway,” he added.
