Police in Navi Mumbai has registered offences against 11 persons for allegedly gambling at a hotel and seized more than Rs 1.75 lakh from them, officials said on Monday.

They said that acting on a tip-off, local police Sunday conducted a raid at a room in the hotel located in Turbhe area of Navi Mumbai.
The police found seven persons playing 'teen-patti', a gambling game involving cards, and three others serving them tea, coffee, etc, the official from Turbhe police station said.
The police seized Rs 1,05,230 from the gamblers and Rs 70,000 cash lying on the gambling table, he said.
An FIR was registered against the seven gamblers, three persons who were serving them beverages and the hotel manager under provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, the official said.
Earlier in the day, Navi Mumbai police registered a case against a man for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl repeatedly following which she became pregnant.
The police said the accused, from Kamothe in Navi Mumbai, and the victim, resident of Turbhe area, got in touch with each other through social media platform Instagram in January 2021 and had an affair.

The accused allegedly raped the girl repeatedly at his residence following which she became pregnant in May 2023, an official from Kamothe police station said.
The man's mother was aware of everything, but she did not object to the offence, he said.
Based on a complaint by the victim, the police on Sunday registered a case against the man and his mother under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, the official said.
Meanwhile, Police arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in the toilet of a mall at Vashi in Navi Mumbai, an official said.
The incident took place on Sunday evening when the boy visited the mall with his friends, he said.
The 25-year-old accused, who is an auto-rickshaw driver, took the boy to a toilet located on the mall's ground fall where he sexually assaulted him, inspector Sanjay Nale from Vashi police station said.
The boy later managed to escape and informed his parents about the incident.
His family approached the police with a complaint and the accused was arrested, the official said.
The accused was booked under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said. (Agencies)
