Bhayanak Maut's Aditya Nair on juggling between music and psychiatry

Aditya Nair

Aditya Nair, lead guitarist of Bhayanak Maut, seamlessly switches between his roles as a metal musician and a practising psychiatrist. As he prepares to hit the stage with his metal band at the Mahindra Independence Rock Festival in the city this weekend, he opens up and shares his prescription for the perfect weekend.

Food: My go-to joint for a wholesome meal with family and friends on weekends has always been Trishna in Kala Ghoda. The band gets together to jam every Sunday in Sion and we start the day off at a Starbucks. By the end of the day, you can find us tucking into hot servings of chole bhature and samosas at Guru Kripa in Sion.

Books: Being a doctor, my bookshelf has been taken over by medical books and journals. On weekends though, I love to indulge in some good old comic books. I recently got my hands on one called The Venom Factor Omnibus, which is a 3,000-page read. I’m hoping to finish that over a few long weekends.

Gaming: I used to game a lot before things got hectic with gigging and work. I am planning to buy a PlayStation 5 very soon to play the new Marvel’s SpiderMan-2 game. Currently, I’m finishing Legends of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on my handy Nintendo Switch.

Movies: I’m old-school when it comes to streaming content. On weekends, I sit back and enjoy reruns of classics like Seinfeld and Arrested Development, and if I’m short on time, I watch an episode of Rick and Morty. You can never go wrong with that!
