Ganesh Chaturthi is almost here. While celebrations will continue to be muted this year owing to restrictions in place, that doesn't mean our festive spirits need to be dampened.

Festivities in India are incomplete without sweets and Ganesh Chaturthi is no different, with a plethora of mouth-watering treats on offer. Sweets like Puran Poli and Shrikhand are popular among devotees but modak, Bappa's favorite, is the undisputed king of Ganesh Utsav.

While this sweet dumpling is made out of simple ingredients—jaggery, coconut, wheat flour and ghee—the traditional sweet has evolved to cater to different tastes and preferences. Powai-based Culinary Craft is conducting a workshop this weekend where participants will learn how to make different varieties of modaks.

Culinary Craft offers a wide variety of courses ranging from one-off cooking workshops to certified baking courses, spanning a range of cuisines from Mediterranean to Mughlai. During this three-hour workshop, participants will learn how to make the traditional ukdaiche modak, and a host of interesting variations including whole wheat fried modak, rava modak, modak peda, sugar-free til modak, and chocolate modak.

This is an in-person event which adheres to health and safety measures practicing social distancing, temperature checks, contactless service, and hygiene stations. They are operating with limited capacity and wearing masks is compulsory.

WHEN: 10 AM, September 4
WHERE: 247/248, Second Floor, Powai Plaza, Hiranandani Gardens, Sainath Nagar, Powai
