If you’re trying to picture a quick weekend escape from the city and the heat, a Mumbai-based trek and tour organisation is painting reality with their scuba diving and water sports tour at Malvan beach, that is open to Mumbaikars. Digvijay Rathore, one of the founders of the organisation, introduces us to the tour, calling it a joyride. As opposed to a week-long course on scuba diving that offers theoretical and practical learning, the one by Mischief Treks, is an opportunity to get away from the city and jump straight into the water. The tour is designed to include children aged 10 onwards, as well as non-swimmers, to help introduce them to water sports. The four-day tour does not cram too much into a day, allowing participants to savour relaxed onshore moments as well as in the water, and in the case of parasailing, over it.

The tour starts a day before the scheduled date with a 15-hour AC bus ride from various pick-up points in the city to Malvan beach. The actual itinerary kicks off as you pull up to the beach hotel. Scuba diving at a depth of 25 feet under water takes up the first day; the next day is packed with water sports in the form of jet ski rides, banana and bumper rides, and parasailing. You’ll also get a chance to experience the local cuisine and sights with a visit to Sindhudurg fort.
Rathore, 32, gives us a glimpse of the atmosphere at a typical tour, saying, “Along with stringent safety checks, we ensure everyone has a memorable time.” He highlights their safety measures saying, “Treks are to be taken seriously and should always be led by a professional.” This trip stretches from Friday evening to Monday morning, so you can roll right up to your desk to start your week.
