From the value of kindness to the joy of sharing, the ancient Panchatantra tales hold significant lessons for kids, and adults, even today. And this weekend, an online workshop, hosted by Bengaluru-based café Tummy Fuel and the platform Ultimate Education Support Center will bring home a story from the Panchatantra, along with art and craft, for kids aged between four and eight.

Asha Balasubramaniam, who runs Tummy Fuel, shares that before the pandemic, such workshops were a regular affair at the café and that they’ve now gone online. The two-day Panchatantra workshop will be helmed by Nishat Sanaulla, a Bengaluru-based story educator, teacher trainer and founder of Ultimate Education Support Center. During the workshop, Sanaulla will narrate the tale, The Lion and The Mouse. “I’ll give the children a brief introduction to the Panchatantra and then tell them the story using voice modulation. They will then create a lion and a mouse with craft and waste materials available at home, such as cardboards, newspapers, old soda bottles and paints,” she tells us.

The idea behind the workshop is to instil morals and values in young minds through stories, art and craft, and fun, Sanaulla shares. “Kids will learn the importance of offering help, and the significance of friendship. They will naturally absorb these values while enjoying the story and working on the craft. The parents can sit with the child to help them. So, it’s also a bonding exercise,” she signs off.
