The acting bug decisively bit Amol Parashar when he performed in a play when at IIT Delhi. All through the college years, his passion continued to simmer and eventually led him to quit his corporate job to try his luck in acting.
His luck has not been too bad. In the last four years, he has bagged short roles in feature films like Rocket Singh-Salesman of the year, shared stage with senior actor- director Jaimini Pathak and recently rose many notches in popularity with his role as the quirky DJ Chitvan in the popular web series TVF Tripling. He has now bagged a film, Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hain, to be directed by Gaurav Sinha.
In the film, he will be sharing screen with Tripling co-star Sumeet Vyas, (a much-applauded chemistry) but unlike in the web series, here, he plays the role of a conservative young man. The persona of Chitvan, though, rules as of now. "A lot of people recognise me as Chitvan. Some even believe I am a DJ in real life. In the last three months, more people have recognised me on the streets than in my entire career," Parashar says.
This, he points out, is because of the reach of the web now, which, he says is both scary and exciting. "On the web, you get feedback very fast. Once the show is on air, response arrives within hours. And it is either of love or hate, there is no moderate web feedback," he says.

His Facebook page, however, is abundant with heart emoticons from fans, accompanied by comments aggressively elaborating their interest in him. When we point that out, he laughs and admits, "It has never been awkward, so I enjoy it," and adds, "But at the back of my mind, I know that it is a character they like and may not like me, since I am a different from that character."
When the web is drawing in more senior actors, Parashar is moving to feature films. But is this a shift? "This is certainly not a shift. I will keep working for the web like actors, who are simultaneously now appearing on multiple platforms," he signs off.
