Protect your personal information. Avoid sharing details like your full name, home address, workplace or financial information.
Give preference to verified profiles. Do a quick internet search or check their social media presence to confirm their identity.
Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is. Don’t be afraid to end a conversation or leave a date if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Set clear boundaries and expectations beforehand to avoid confusion later.
Always choose a public location for your first meeting. Share your plans or location with a friend or family member. Make sure someone is aware where you are and with whom.
Pay attention to emotional manipulation tactics, such as love-bombing, creating a sense of urgency or guilt-tripping. If someone’s behaviour feels overwhelming or inconsistent, take a step back and evaluate the situation.
