Jodhpur (Rajasthan) [India], June 21: Once, Michelle Bachelet rightly said that “A better democracy is a democracy where women do not only have the right to vote and to elect but to be elected”. Kanta Gwala, an uncompromising leader and an ardent female politician from National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) is one of the examples who aim to set a better democratic nation. Kanta Gwala created history by emerging the first female student union president in Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur in the year 2017. This victorious lady has perused her B.TECH in civil Engineering from JIET COLLEGE, RTU University, Rajasthan. She is also an MBA from JNVU, Jodhpur.

Kanta, daughter of Mr. Mangilal Gwala & Mrs. Manju Gwala was born in a middle-class family on 1st June 1994 at Bhopalgarh, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The former female president was also a syndicate member in 2017 at Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur.

In her tenure, she fought many victorious battles and also struggled against odds for the students. In no time, she took everyone by surprise by becoming one of the most iconic, charismatic, and brazen young female politicians in the state of Rajasthan.  She showed the patriarchal society that women are capable of handling the responsibilities of leadership. The best quality about Kanta is that she has constantly strived for change, yet she remained changeless. She always values her independence, freedom and finds satisfaction in working for the people, especially the student class.

From being active on social media to working hard for the empowerment of students in the state, Kanta has won many hearts by the quality of professionalism combined with a sense of duty towards people. With her hard work, result-oriented and humanistic approach to her work, she has been able to carve for herself in the political sphere.

During the massive uproar for fee reduction in University, she faced many challenges from opposition yet that didn’t deter her drive and fighting spirit to move ahead and far in life. She held her sword tight when she once again came back to the field with the demand for an increase in the number of seats for various university courses. Looking into her achievements, one can say that Kanta Gwala is an entirely self-made female politician, without any godfathers. She has always given her success credits to her brothers, Mr. Chetan Ram Gwala and Mr. Kishor Gwala who have always been with her through thick and thin.

In-person Kanta is a kind and generous desi girl who is extremely passionate about her work. She does what feels right in her heart. Her leadership has given in many better results which shall remain intact even in her absence. She has been committed to creating values and isn’t afraid of hard times, that’s why her obstacles and barriers are utterly unimportant. She believes that a leader is the one who creates more leaders and not the one who has maximum followers. Her significant contribution towards society and well being of students has undoubtedly encouraged many other females to step in for political dialogues. She believes that exclusion of women from political power can never assure democracy in a nation as in the last words of Margaret Thatcher– “In politics, if you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman.” Despite belonging to a middle-class family, Kanta Gwala with her hard work has now emerged as a prominent female politician in the state.
