Celebrating World Health Day - Dr. Shubham Shree’s Take on the Human Health

Dr. Shubham Shree

As we celebrate the World Health Day, let’s take a moment to rejuvenate ourselves with all the good things around us.

When we talk about health, it covers all the sects of the human life like physical health, mental health, social health and spiritual well-being. When all these come in synchronization, we can say that a person is healthy. One of the most important factors that matters, is the quality of life. If the quality of life isn’t good, then one cannot be healthy in a proper way. One must try to follow a healthy diet, maintain proper sleep routine, hygiene, hydration, etc.

Talking about the mental health, it is another important factor in our lives. If a person is physical fit, but mentally upset, they will tend to have symptoms like depression and anxiety. Such symptoms are very common these days in individuals in the different phases of their lives. In order to confront mental health issues, one must maintain a proper work life balance, and ensure that they live in a healthy environment.

Another important aspect of the human health, is the psychological well-being. Psychological health is all about what kind of mental health, one possesses. Even consuming too much alcohol or drugs can make your brain dysfunctional. Mental hygiene is yet another very important aspect, and it’s essential that one must have a good one. Like one follows the physical hygiene basics like taking shower every day, cutting nails regularly, body grooming, etc., similarly in mental hygiene we must not let any negative thoughts enter our mind. A positive mindset is always the way to go. If suppose a person is having a negative mindset in the highs and lows, they must ensure to detoxify all the negative thoughts. Activities like Yoga, mild exercises, meditation or any activity of your choice can prove to be really strong counter measures, in order to maintain a good physical and psychological health. Emotions also play an important role. The kind of emotions one carries along, strongly determine the psychological well-being as well. Especially since the Covid pandemic, all the recreation activities had been shut down, and people were confined to their homes. Because of this, some people experienced emotional burden. Another important aspect, is having a good sex life. Having a good sex life helps you in maintaining good mental, physical and psychological health.

Talking about the social life, it is another factor that plays a vital role in the human health. Celebrations, recreation, and similar things are all a part of one’s social well-being. Such things cannot be replaced by virtual world. Spending time in real life with someone, rather than having a video call, is very different. Physical presence of someone can give one enough strength and emotional satisfaction. Social quotient is yet another thing that was affected by the Covid pandemic. Lot of individuals were away from their families, because of work, or some couldn’t even travel due to the restrictions placed by the government. All of this had increased the emotional stress among people, and compromised the social quotient. Pretty much what has been going on in the current scenario as well.

All in all, in order to stay healthy, one must ensure self-care, and care giving. In order to stay healthy spiritually, one must try to connect to inner self to achieve inner peace. For self-love, is the best love.
