Would you be interested if we say there is a new eatery in town that serves curries with rice and chapatti? Maybe not. But you would change your mind if we say that a restaurant offers curry with toast? On the lines of the Malaysian concept of serving chicken or mutton curry with golden brown toast, the two-month old restaurant Curry Toast in Koramangala does that exactly but with an Indian touch.

There is nothing exciting about the d ufffdcor of Curry Toast that strikes you except for a few posters of Albert Einstein, Salvador Dali and other such stalwarts. The eatery's theme being what's unique about you and relating it to these famous people who were unique in their own way. At first glance, Curry Toast looks like any other quick service joint. Even the menu card that seems like a flier, does not picture anything fancy.
Nevertheless, the dishes on the menu card are a saving grace. With options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, Curry Toast offers combos with both toast and rice. However, we decided to experience the best of both worlds and ordered Kheema Mutter Rice Box (Rs 129) and a Curry Toast combo with chicken curry and 1 Side Order (Rs 119). The rice box with kheema curry, yellow dal and plain rice was nothing to rave about.
In fact, the kheema mutter was a tad bland. However, served with pan-toasted freshly baked buttered toast and traditional South Indian garlic, tomato and a caramelised onion chutney, the Curry Toast Combo was a clear winner. Though the chicken curry was nothing extraordinary, but when paired with fresh bread with butter on top, it brought out the flavours of the curry. The sweet and sour chutneys added to the flavour.
The side dish Chilli Garlic Toast (Rs 19) is a must try. With cheese and chopped chili topping, the toast just melts in your mouth leaving a spicy aftertaste but does not set your tongue on fire. After the chili toast, we decided to give our tongue a sweet respite and ordered for Hot Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream (Rs 29). However, sadly the super hot gulab jamn did not go too well with the melted vanilla ice cream. Atleast not for us.
Curry Toast is ideal for a quick and filling grub. The toast served with Indian curries are a welcome break from your daily dose of rice and chapatti. With its plans to launch an outlet in Dubai next month and 20 more all across the city by 2012, Curry Toast is all set to induct you to the world of Indian curries but with a difference.
