Periscope, an app that services live broadcasting via smartphone can just be the thing to reverse micro-blogging site Twitter's fortunes, business experts say.

This is because, leading global brands, especially in the US have been choosing Periscope over Facebook Live for live streaming purposes. Multinational banking and financial services holding company JPMorgan Chase broadcast its CEO Jamie Dimon's annual bus tour from California on Periscope.


Furthermore, Wingstop, fast-food restaurant chain, held it's first-ever live auction on Periscope recently in celebration of National Chicken Wing Day. Also, the introduction of new features like, Replay Highlights - which shows a short video of every Periscope broadcast, ability to play broadcasts on embedded Tweets and the live Autoplay Feature has made Periscope a favourite of many.

Those watching can show their appreciation and send messages which pop up on screen during the stream on Periscope, which has added to its popularity.

Periscope was acquired January 2015 by Twitter before the product had been publicly launched. It was later made available for Android users in May. (Read more)
