Mumbai-based Apeksha Nimesh Purohit is an electronic engineer, but she has always been surrounded by a creative spirit in the form of her father, who is a writer. After returning to India from Dubai in 2007, she used to write poems on her phone but nothing beyond that, as it was only a hobby
On one such occasion, her son, who was playing on her phone, saw her poems in 2019, and said he loved them, and she should post them on YouTube. While Apeksha, who goes by her pen name Tina, her maternal name, didn't take him seriously at first, he convinced her to take the leap of faith, and share her Hindi poetry online. Today, she regularly posts her poetry online, and her children even help her setup different corners of the house for the video
It was no different for Mamta Anant Mehta, who used to be an arts and crafts teacher by passion at home, before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Since there were a lot of people who wanted home food during that time, a neighbour in Andheri East asked her to make theplas, and it didn't take long for her food to become popular. Over time, she even started making undhiyu during the winter season too. While she delivers within Mumbai and India, her theplas and food also go as far as Malaysia through word of mouth
With the summer season here, 50-year-old Mamta is also making different kinds of pickles including Gujarati specials like chunda, that are made on order, when she puts it up in her WhatsApp group
