Jhandewalan Temple, New Delhi
The festival began with special morning 'artis' at temples across India. The ‘Bhasma Arti’ was performed at Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain.
Barhadevi Temple, Kanpur
Devotees visited temples to seek blessings on the first day of Chaitra Navratri. They participated in traditional prayers and customs, with some temples also observing special rituals.
Mata Longa Wali Devi Temple, Amritsar
Temples dedicated to Goddess Durga were decked up in celebration of the festival, and some religious sites witnessed heavy crowds.
Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
Ganga Arti was performed in places like Varanasi and Prayagraj in observance of the festival.
Vaishno Devi Temple, Katra
A large number of devotees gathered to pay obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, amid tightened security.
Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
The nine-day long festival celebrates different forms of Goddess Durga, with each day dedicated to a specific form. Devotees worship Goddess Shailputri on the first day of Chaitra Navratri.
