If your weekend hasn't been planned yet, you can add a touch of Jazz to it. An international group of musicians featuring Lydia Hendrikje Hornung (vocals), Alfie Copovi (piano), Odysseas Toumazou (guitar), Gianluca Liberatore (upright bass) and Aron Nyiro (drums) will perform in the city this weekend. The musicians are a part of the faculty at the True School Of Music (TSM) and have been performing together for a year.

"We are a close-knit bunch as the teaching staff at TSM is just six of us. Even post our classes, we hang out and listen to music together or jam with each other. Even though we are all from different countries, we have studied music in Holland," says Hornung, who originally hails from Germany and sounds excited about the gig. "Our bass player is Indian. He replaced one of our original band members, who is Italian and can't perform because of a family emergency," she adds.

The group will revisit old classics from the Swing era. The repertoire chosen includes soundtracks of musical films from the 1940s and 1950s and the best of Broadway songs. The focus is to highlight the connection between Jazz and cinema, the new art forms of the 20th century. "We will present ten songs in an hour long Broadway- style performance. These are covers but the difference is that there have been remarkable improvisations to make them more current. We have some fresh material too," she shares.
