Sign up for a conceptual street photography workshop conducted by DCP Wildlife Photography Training Academy) in association with Slum Gods (a Dharavi based tour operator) and Manfrotto (dealers in photography equipment.)

“We can accommodate up to 15 participants who will be divided into two groups of seven each. The first group will learn the techniques of photographing the potters while the second one will focus on the movements on the streets surrounding the potters’ colony. When they are done, we will swap the groups,” says Sarita Dattatreya, of DCP, who will mentor the participants. Participants will need to carry their own DSLR cameras and a basic lens.

The cameras can also be rented from DCP. A quarter of the profit from this event will be donated for the uplift of the local community in Dharavi. “So far, we have conducted workshops at Chor Bazaar and Marine Drive in Mumbai.

At Chor Bazaar, we found its locals extremely friendly and forthcoming,” recalls Dattatreya. We aim to dispel the negative image that people have of Dharavi and slums in general and help the community, she sums up.
