High on the success of his TVF series, Aspirants, Naveen Kasturia follows it up with Runaway Lugai. The MXPlayer series sees the actor as a district court judge searching for his runaway wife while sorting out the criminal cases of his father, played by Sanjay Mishra. The 10-episode series was shot well before the 2020 lockdown. “We shot for Runaway Lugai in September 2019,” recounts the actor, describing it as “an amusing story” that will keep people entertained.

For Kasturia, the father-son chemistry in the series was the big draw. Having worked with Mishra on a commercial before, he believes there’s a lot to learn from the artiste. “He doesn’t take himself too seriously, which is an uncommon trait among star actors.” Kasturia adds that unlike him, Mishra doesn’t fret about his lines. “Sanjay sir enjoys the process, something I am yet to learn from. He is passionate about so many things — collecting incense sticks, playing musical instruments and cooking. Acting is only a part of his life.”

Recently, TVF showcased their 2021 slate, and we caught a glimpse of the second season of Pitchers. Asked about the show’s status, Kasturia quips, “I was excited to know season 2 is coming, but then again, I had heard that in 2017 too. So far, there has been no talk on that front.” The actor also hopes that Aspirants gets a second instalment. “They didn’t show how Abhilash [his character] became an IAS officer. I hope they come out with another season, but the decision is entirely up to the makers.”
