Vicky Jain with Ankita Lokhande

Good friends turned best friends turned lovers. Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain’s has been a sweet, fulfilling love story. But now the actor-businessman couple are adding a dose of drama to it by entering the 17th season of the controversial show, Bigg Boss. In the week since the latest season started, the couple have made waves with their romance, nok jhok, and their baby talk. Before they entered the Bigg Boss house, mid-day, in two separate conversations, posed them questions to understand their expectations and approach to the reality show.

Edited excerpts from the interview.

Tell us a bit about your love story.
Ankita Lokhande: Vicky and I were friends for many years. We never thought that we would date each other or get married. [Eventually] we became good partners to each other. When he proposed marriage, I asked him to meet my family first. He met everyone, and that is when we started dating.
Vicky Jain: Ankita and I were best friends, and it was a great phase of our lives. Our focus was always towards [having] a serious relationship. Our friends and family were already involved in our relationship. Everyone knew we wanted to get married, and we did.

What was the toughest phase of your relationship and how did you overcome it?
AL: There were some ups and downs at a certain point in my life. We understood that we are stronger as a couple. He stood by me; we supported each other in every way.
VJ: There hasn’t been any tough stage in our relationship. It has been all a fairy tale till now.

What do you plan to achieve by entering Bigg Boss?
AL: I like being in front of the camera. Now, people will watch me all the time, [not my characters]. Everyone has their own perceptions about me, it will be great if people see the real me and then make judgments.
VJ: We are here to create memories with each other. It will be a great test of how we are as a team.

What is your partner most likely to be irritated about?
AL: He is irritated all the time, with my face and my reactions. I give him 10 looks in a minute. I converse with him through my eyes. I have decided to not give him looks inside the house, but that will irritate him too.
VJ: If I do not give her attention all the time, she gives me tension.

How do you plan to resolve conflicts, if any?
AL: We have conflicts in our daily lives as well, and we sort it out in our ways. We don’t fight. In the Bigg Boss house, the test is of individuality, not love. We both will give each other opportunities to take our own stand and play in our way. If something happens, we will sort it out nicely.
VJ: [Conflicts] will surely happen. In the end, we are two different humans. However, we will keep our opinions forward, [irrespective] of the reaction.

What is your biggest worry about being on the show?
AL: I’m going in with a blank slate, I’m not worried about anything. I’m going to a new place where I don’t know anyone and vice versa. I might take time to understand and mix with people but once I do so, people will love me.
VJ: What worries me is that I am not worried about anything.

Will it bother you if your past is dug up and brought out in the open?
AL: I am an open book. There is nothing to hide. I have always supported people and done the right thing. If anyone thinks I have done something wrong, I am not worried.
VJ: It won’t bother me as I don’t have any regrets from my past.
