Porus producer to strike digital deals to break even after creating Rs 500 crore show
One might assume that the creative minds working behind what is being touted as the most expensive Indian show would be certain of the methods of recovering costs. But producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary, whose latest offering, Porus, which is apparently mounted on a budget of Rs 500 crore, says brother Rahul, also a co-producer on the show, and he are still considering the means to bring in the moolah.

"We don't have a plan in place to recover our cost immediately. These decisions take a while to arrive at. We intend to monetise the show by selling it to digital platforms and dubbing it in several languages."
While broadcasters of tele serials screen the shows airing on their channel, on their respective digital platforms, the deal that Tewary struck with Sony offers him more power. "The channel only has the television rights. The decision to sell it to a digital platform is still in our hands. This is the first time that producers of an Indian show have partnered with the channel. The deal gives us more authority. We are in talks with SonyLiv [Sony India's digital offering] and other platforms too." Tewary alludes that the highest bidder will be given priority. "We have invested heavily. We hope to recover the cost. I am not even talking about profits now."
