After winning accolades at various national and international film festivals, Nikhil Mahajan's 'Godavari' is all set to keep its date with the Maharashtrian audience. The trailer of Godavari was launched today by the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis. The launch event was a grand affair with the star cast and various dignitaries in attendance. Godavari will release across cinema halls in Maharashtra on November 11.

Prior to the trailer launch, two songs from the film - Kojagiri and Khal Khal Goda - have already mesmerised music lovers. With the trailer launch, the excitement level among audiences who have been eagerly awaiting the release of Godavari, is at its peak. The trailer shows the life of Nishikant, played by the talented Jitendra Joshi, and his family that resides in Nashik. This happy family has its share of ups and downs, traditions and emotions, a glimpse of which can be seen in the trailer. The river Godavari is the central theme of this film. What is Nishikant's bond with River Godavari, a river that has been witness to happiness and sorrows over the years? For Nishikant, who calls it just a river, what does Godavari signify? The answers to these and more questions will be revealed on November 11.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis said, " The quality and content of Marathi films have always been among the best in the world. It's a matter of pride for all of us that Godavari has already won acclaim at various national and international platforms. The makers have done a beautiful job of weaving the story of a person around the river Godavari and I am confident that it will reignite that special bond which we share with rivers. We share an age-old bond with rivers. Our culture and traditions have been deeply influenced by rivers. Unfortunately, somewhere in between, we lost that divine touch with rivers. Rivers became polluted as did our thoughts and culture. It's time we must change the same. And importantly the film speaks about the journey of belief, not superstitions and I think that is an important aspect of our journey as humans. I am definitely going to watch this film. My best wishes to the entire team of Godavari."

Director Nikhil Mahajan added, "Godavari is reaching its audience after winning acclaim at various film festivals across the globe. This is an emotional film that is sure to strike a chord at a deep level with families. Many times, while trying to achieve or prove something, we tend to leave the people and things close to us behind. Godavari is a film that makes you realise the value of these and it's a film that your entire family should watch together."

On his part, actor Jitendra Joshi, who also makes his debut as a producer with this film said, "Godavari is like a new beginning for me as it's my first step into the world of production. The trailer being launched by Mr Devendra Fadnavis means a lot to me. This is a film that delves into the importance and relevance of family, relationships and traditions and offers a new perspective into these valuable bonds. I am happy that the film is releasing in theatres soon and I hope the audience embraces our offering." Presented by Jio Studios and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Blue Drop Films and Jitendra Joshi Pictures, Godavari features Jitendra Joshi, Neena Kulkarni, Sanjay Mone, Priyadarshan Jadhav, Gauri Nalawade and Vikram Gokhale in pivotal roles.

A notable high point about Godavari is that it was the only Marathi film among the six Indian films from various languages to be selected by the Government of India to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the India@75 celebrations. Along with this honour, Godavari has left a lasting impression on viewers at various prestigious film festivals like IFFI, New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), Vancouver International Film Festival, New Zealand International Film Festival, Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), FIPRESCI - India Grand Prix.
