We are Guardians, DiCaprio-backed documentary about planet conservation, to have its India première at All Living Things Environmental Film Festival

Let’s converse about conservation

Leonardo DiCaprio

He is a globally celebrated actor first. But Leonardo DiCaprio’s identity as a vocal champion for planet conservation comes a close second. Often, he has used the medium of cinema to raise awareness about the effects of climate change, the latest examples being We are Guardians and Path of the Panther. Now, the two documentaries, supported by DiCaprio, will have their India première at the All Living Things Environmental Film Festival (ALTEFF) that kicks off next month.

Directed by Chelsea Greene, Rob Groman, and Edivan Guajajara, We are Guardians follows forest guardian Marçal Guajajara and activist Puyr Tembé as they valiantly battle against deforestation, fend off loggers and try to save what is left of the Brazilian Amazon. Greene is grateful that the documentary will be screened at ALTEFF, thus raising awareness of the unfortunate state of the Amazon rainforests. “We are Guardians is a story that needs to be heard. The state of the Amazon and the situation of the indigenous people in Brazil is extremely urgent. It’s a matter that concerns the whole world. It’s incredible to have Leonardo DiCaprio join our team. We hope that with his support, we can bring a lot more attention to the film and to the greater cause.”

Director Eric Bendick will offer audiences a glimpse into the world of the Florida panthers with his documentary, Path of the Panther. It delves into the history of this endangered species and urges for the preservation of the delicate balance of our environment to ensure its survival.
