Familiar tunes, revisited

Dino James

At the upcoming Ultimate Hip Hop Concert, Dino James will join a bevy of artistes to celebrate the music genre. “We have prepared a set comprising songs from both my old and new catalogue. I have been itching to perform a couple of unreleased music tracks that I have wanted the world to hear, live. I might drop some of them at the event,” says James of the event that will also see performances by MC Altaf, Rashmi Kaur and Ikka, among others.

Asserting that the genre is coming into the spotlight only now, he says, “Now, international hip hop artistes are coming to India. It is time for this genre to shine, so, it needs love and attention from listeners. The audience for this genre is still small, and we hope to reach more people with festivals of this nature. It is at such events that we can meet artistes from different cities, and with different mentalities and viewpoints. With rap being the most outspoken genre, every young child now has the chance to share his story,” he says of the event that will take place on October 28.
