'Drishyam 2' director Abhishek Pathak is the latest guest on mid-day.com's 'BTS Stars.' He spoke about taking charge of the film, from the late Nishikant Kamat who directed part one and how the film's lead Ajay Devgn believe in him and encouraged him to give his best.

Abhishek said, "I've known him (Ajay Devgn) since childhood. He's family and I see him as an elder brother. I never thought I'd get to direct him in my first or second film. I was nervous about the fact that I always looked at him in a certain way but now I have to direct him. It's a different ball game altogether when you have to tell such a senior actor what is to be done!" He adds that Ajay was very encouraging and helped him to give his best to the film.

Meanwhile, Drishyam 2 that released in theatres on November 18, 2022 turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office. In a year where the Hindi film industry largely witnessed disappointing turnout at the box office, Ajay Devgn 'Drishyam 2' opened to an extremely positive response. The film collected Rs. 15.38 crore at the box office on opening day. The box office numbers were steady even during mid-week, helping the film reach 100 crores.

Helmed by Abhishek Pathak, the film also starred Tabu, Ishita Dutta, Akshaye Khanna, Rajat Kapoor, and Shriya Saran in the lead roles. The Hindi version, headlined by Ajay, was a remake of 2013's Malayalam movie of the same name, starring Mohanlal as the lead. It was helmed by National-Award-winning director Nishikant Kamat, who died in 2020 at the age of 50.
