In recent times, Ramayana has become one of the most talked-about projects, and with Ranbir Kapoor and Yash coming on board, there's only so much that everyone's been talking about. It was back in 2020 that Madhu Mantena first confirmed his plans for the Indian epic, along with Nitesh Tiwari directing the film. Now, the director has started shooting for his magnum opus. It was back in January when a report from Pinkvilla claimed that Lara Dutta would be a part of the grand project and that the actress would play the role of Princess Kaikeyi in the magnum opus.

Now, the actress has finally reacted to the claims. Lara, while addressing the report jokingly, said, “I also like reading and hearing about them, so please continue. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of Ramayana?” The actress continued and said that she would love to play a character in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer if offered. She further laughed and added, “Surpanakha, Mandodari, I am playing them all.”

About Lara playing Kaikeyi, a source close to the development shared, “Nitesh Tiwari wants to cast actors who are apt to play the characters belonging to the most timeless tale of Indian History. He feels Lara Dutta is perfect to play the part of Princess Kaikeyi, the third consort of King Dasharatha. It’s a pivotal character that leads to the entire conflict in Ramayana, and Lara is excited to enter the fantastical world of Nitesh Tiwari.”

Pictures from the set leaked

After months of prep, actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is playing Lord Ram in the film, has begun shooting. A couple of pictures of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavii as Lord Ram and Sita shooting for the film have made their way to social media.

Designer duo Rimple and Harpreet have confirmed that they are crafting costumes for the forthcoming magnum opus 'Ramayana', directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Harpreet told IANS, "We are absolutely elated and honoured to be entrusted with the monumental task of designing costumes for the upcoming historical movie, 'Ramayana'." Rimple added, "This opportunity feels like a true blessing, as the Ramayana holds unparalleled significance in our country's cultural heritage."
