Celebs extend wishes on the auspicious occasion of Lohri

As the country celebrates Lohri today, several Bollywood stars took to their social media to extend warm wishes to their fans. From Sidharth Malhotra, to Abhishek Bachchan to Shehnaaz Gill, several celebrities have put out cute posts for the festival.


Abhishek Bachchan, while wishing the fans a very happy Lohri, shared a cute story that has “Happy Lohri” written on it.


Not only Junior Bachchan but Big B too extended his wishes. The actor wrote, “T 4889 - Happy Lohri .. 'Lohdi di takkade, te Rab tuanu baccha de' ... this is how the chanting went when they came to homes and families to collect donations on the occasion of Lohri ..Maa used to tell us these stories ..”


The Punjab di kudi Shehnaaz Gill also wished fans on the auspicious occasion. The actress while sharing a post wrote, “Always maintain your vibrant smile as bright because the mild of the holy bonfire. Happy Lohri!”

The heartthrob Vicky Kaushal also shared a picture on his Instagram story and wished a very 'Happy Lohri' to his fans and family.

While Akshay Kumar wrote, “Apko or apke Parivar ko lohki ki Dher sari shubhkamnaye. Happy Lohri.”

While extending Lohri di lakh lakh vadhaiya, Sidharth Malhotra wrote, “Lohri di lakh lakh vadhaiyani.”

Apart from these, Sunny Deol, extended his wishes for the auspicious occasion. The ‘Tridev’ actor penned a heartwarming note, which read as, “Reflecting on the warmth of Lohri, memories of my mom's sweets and the shared laughter of the neighbourhood celebrations flood my heart. In the hustle of today, I cherish those simpler times…Wishing everyone very prosperous Lohri.”

For the uninitiated, Lohri is a vibrant Punjabi festival celebrated with bonfires, music, and dance to mark the winter solstice. Usually observed on January 13, it holds cultural significance as a harvest festival, symbolizing the end of winter and the arrival of longer days. Families come together, lighting a bonfire and offering prayers for prosperity. Traditional folk songs and dance add joy to the festivities. People exchange greetings and share sesame seeds, peanuts, and jaggery, symbolizing the essence of Lohri. The festival fosters community spirit, bringing warmth and cheer to the cold winter night, creating lasting memories for all.
