Musician duo Javed-Mohsin join hands with Sabbir Khan again after their acclaimed Munna Michael track, Ding dong, for Abhimanyu Dassani’s Nikamma. “He said he wanted two songs, one of which [was the remix of] Nikamma. It is a recreation of Himesh Reshammiya sir’s song, Nikamma kiya is dil ne, but apart from the hook line, we’ve designed the entire song in accordance with modern music sensibilities,” says Mohsin, adding that the Dev Negi and Payal Dev-rendered track was beautifully shot on Ganesh Acharya’s choreography.

The other track that they created for the project, which also features Shirley Setia, is a theme of sorts for the film’s action sequences. “It’s called Ab meri baari aayi. It is an aggressive track, and we’ve given it a hip-hop feel. We’ve retained an upbeat and contemporary sound in the film in keeping with its youthful aesthetics,” says Mohsin, as Javed adds, “We kept the sounds fresh after taking into consideration the actors’ energies. Ab meri baari aayi will give the listener an adrenaline rush.”

Nikamma, also featuring Shilpa Shetty Kundra, is a remake of the 2017 Telugu film, Middle Class Abbayi starring Nani Ghanta.
