In India, weddings are considered as a grand affair, where, getting married is no less than a festival itself, for both the families. When the bride and the groom decide to take the plunge, it is not only termed as a union between two people but the entire families. While for some, the celebration can go on for days and weeks, many wrap up this grandiose event within a few days.

Bollywood actor Himansh Kohli's sister Disha, who is a baker by profession, tied the knot with businessman Abhay Malhotra at their hometown in Delhi. As we approach one year of lockdown that was imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the actor in an interview with mid-day.com shared about the precautions taken during the event, the wedding festivities planned, and how both the families created beautiful memories without risking anyone's life.

When quizzed about the preparations for the entire ceremony, despite the growing number of patients, Himansh replied, "We made sure to invite as fewer people as possible which included only our most near and dear ones."

The actor further added, "there was less number of functions which got wrapped up within 2 days as compared to the normal one full week of wedding events. We also had sanitiser dispensers at every counter and smaller units installed on every table. Everyone including the staff and the guests were wearing masks, except when pictures or videos were being taken. It was also mandatory for all the entrants to get their temperature and blood oxygen levels checked."

When mid-day.com asked if the wedding planned during the lockdown was a deliberate decision, the actor quipped, "Obviously not, the wedding was planned to happen much before, but it was delayed due to the lockdown. As soon as the situation eased up, we got the arrangements done as per a suitable date for both families. The only thing that was done on purpose was to keep it on a weekend for the convenience of all relatives and friends."

Himansh Kohli turned wedding planner for sister Disha’s big day, which was February 28, 2021. The actor completed his commitments in Mumbai and flew off to his hometown Delhi for the celebrations. The Mehendi ceremony was hosted on February 27, which was followed by a ring ceremony in the evening on the same day. The wedding celebration took place the next day with a humble gathering of near and dear ones.
