Akaaykohli_599?
Within a few hours of the announcement of the arrival of Akaay—Virat and Anushka Sharma’s newborn baby boy—social media accounts with the name Akaay Kohli, and its various iterations, began to be created. Social media users have been receiving messages from these fake accounts, with some seemingly requesting money. Fans, however, have had a field day consuming memes pertaining to the development. Some made light of the fact that a 10-day-old child could “type in English”, others commented on the plight of the “bored” generation. Some others made light of the fact that Akaay may indeed have a hard time finding a user-name when he decides to hop aboard Instagram.
Who’s the real Vidya?
A case has been registered with the Mumbai police after Vidya Balan complained that she was being impersonated. A fake Instagram account and email ID has reportedly been set up in her name, and the account is being used to cheat people from the film industry, as per officials. According to the first information report registered at the Khar police station, the crime came to light on January 16 when a stylist associated with the industry received a message from an unidentified number. The sender claimed that Balan wanted to speak to him. The stylist suspected that something was amiss, and informed Balan, who confirmed she had not sent it.
Back to the books
Vijay Deverakonda found an interesting way to encourage his young fan to begin preparations for her upcoming examinations. Days after the fan playfully shared in a video that she’d “start preparing” when Deverakonda would comment on it, the actor, who is known to interact with his followers frequently, responded with a promise. “Get 90 per cent, and I will meet you,” he wrote. Evidently, fans of the actor were elated with his response and thanked him for his gesture.
Putting up a fight
Gulshan Devaiah is set to star in an action series, his second one in the genre after Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018). “The sequences are designed to be fun and entertaining. I am enjoying this new experience and trying to find a way to pull off such stylised fight sequences. I wouldn’t say it’s easy, but what’s the fun in doing easy things?” said the actor.
Dekha undekha
Even though Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan may have acted together and shared a stage after their break-up, it appears that all is not well between the two actors. A video from the recently held Dadasaheb Phalke Awards has caught the attention of social media users because it sees Kareena ignoring Shahid even as she greets filmmaker Raj Nidimoru who stands beside him. Fans found the interaction awkward, and called Kareena’s reaction unwarranted.
Training attention to fitness
Bhuvan Bam has dedicated 2024 to being “healthy and fit”. The actor, who is undergoing rigorous physical training, shared, “This year, being healthy and fit is my top priority. I believe that a strong body breeds a strong mind, and I want to ensure that I am at my best, both physically and mentally, to tackle the challenges ahead.”
Airline carrier hits back at Mannara
It appears, the airline industry is no longer willing to maintain stoic silence when criticism is directed towards it from celebrities. While companies are usually eager to empathise with angry celebs when accusations are levied against them on social media, an airline carrier was unwilling to come to terms with Mannara Chopra’s behaviour. Days after the former Bigg Boss contestant slammed the carrier for apparent misbehaviour, the latter responded. “In accordance with our baggage policy, check-in baggage exceeding the 15-kg limit is subject to excess fees. [The] fee was consistently requested to be waived [by you],” it claimed, and also stated that Chopra had asked for a front row seat—a request that could not be met, given that the seats were previously booked.
