Have you heard? Ranbir Kapoor confirms wedding soon

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt

After all the speculation about their summer shaadi, Ranbir Kapoor finally confirmed Alia Bhatt and his plans. In a recent interview, the Sanju actor emphasised that wedding is on their mind. “I haven’t been bitten by a mad dog that I’d announce a date to media,” he snapped, and quickly added, “But Alia and I have all the intentions of getting married soon. So yes, hopefully soon,” was all he was willing to say for now. Incidentally, after his aunt Rima Jain spoke about how she wasn’t aware of the wedding date, Alia’s father Mahesh Bhatt has said that the rumours of an April wedding have been going on for a long time. Meanwhile, reports are rife that Sabyasachi Mukherjee is designing Alia’s lehenga for the saat pheras.

AB keeps his promise

On Tuesday night, Abhishek Bachchan kept the promise he had made to inmates of Agra Central Jail last year. After wrapping up the shoot of Dasvi there, the actor told the guards and inmates that he would show them the movie first. Along with his co-actors, Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur, AB held a screening for them on Wednesday. Sharing a clip from the preview on social media, “Last night I managed to fulfill a commitment I made a year ago. The first screening of our film held for the guards and inmates of Agra Central Jail. Their reactions are memories I will remember and cherish for a lifetime.”

Shaken and stirred

Vijay Deverakonda, who shot some scenes with Mike Tyson for his Bollywood debut, Liger, recently spoke about the “surreal experience” of working with the boxing legend. While he got to meet, eat and chat with the sports icon, the actor also recalled getting “beaten by him.” Vijay said, “He connected a punch on my face which shook my brain, but I was standing and that gave me a lot of confidence. I was like ‘Tyson ne mara aur main khada hoon, now I can take anything in the world’ (sic).” Calling it a “fun, crazy experience,” he added, “I cannot share a lot of experiences with him, but it’s a memory for life.”

Back with a warning

Remember Somy Ali? For the uninitiated, she acted in ’90s films like Anth, Yaar Gaddar, Andolan and Krishna Avatar, among others. Out of the blue, she issued a warning to “The Harvey Weinstein of Bollywood” online yesterday. “You will be exposed. The women you abused will come out one day and share their truth. Just like @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb (sic),” she wrote, along with a still from a song of a popular film. While she didn’t take any names, the image she shared and her tagging Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was enough to create a flutter on social media.

Thrilling times ahead

Priyanshu Painyuli, who got noticed for his performances in Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018) and Rashmi Rocket (2021), has bagged the lead part in Navdeep Singh’s thriller series for an OTT giant. He essays the part of a small-town guy whose world is turned upside down after a shocking event. Priyanshu has begun shooting in Udaipur with the director for the series that is written by Devika Bhagat, who has hits like Bachna Ae Haseeno and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Beginning a new game

Abhinay Deo, who forayed into the TV series space with 24 in 2013, is gearing up for his OTT debut now. The Blackmail director is the showrunner on Gamer Log, which he is also producing with Neeta Shah, for Lionsgate Play. Currently in development, the coming-of-age show is set against the backdrop of competitive e-sports. A first of its kind, Gamer Log revolves around the adventures and misadventures of professional gamers. Interestingly, Abhinay made his directorial debut with an action thrilled titled Game, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani and Shahana Goswami.

Booking a Good Friday

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic comedy, which is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and revolves around the ‘trophy wife syndrome’, has been titled Bawaal. The title means noise or uproar, which follows the twist in the tale after Varun’s small-town guy marries a gorgeous girl played by Janhvi in the hope of improving his social standing. Moreover, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has also booked a holiday weekend for its date with cinemas. The film is slated to release on April 7, 2023, with hope of making the most of the Good Friday weekend.

Trio on a song

Samantha, who was recently photographed with Varun Dhawan, her co-actor in the Indian version of Citadel to be directed by Raj and DK, is currently in Chennai. The Shaakuntalam actor was shooting a special song with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi for their Tamil-Telugu film, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. Choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, Two two two, is said to be an epic fun song. So much so that the team is optimistic about it becoming another chartbuster like Samantha’s Oo Antava from Pushpa: The Rise.
