Kajol played an outspoken and opinionated woman, but at the same time an affectionate mother in her digital debut film Tribhanga: Tedhi Medhi Crazy. In an exclusive interview with mid-day's Parul Sharma, Kajol talks about motherhood, societal pressure and her bond with daughter Nysa as compared to her reel-life daughter Masha in the Renuka Shahane directorial.

Talking about the lesson she learnt after becoming a mother, Kajol said, "The biggest disadvantage (of motherhood) is the fact that we find it so difficult to ask for help. That was one of the biggest lessons I learnt as a mother was that, you know you can't do everything on your own, that you have to ask people for help and there is no shame in it. And 'NO' you are not a bad mother, you are not the worst person for asking for it or not a bad woman asking someone for help when you genuinely need. It took me after I had my kids to understand the strength that takes to ask for help. Also, by asking for their help you are telling them that it's okay for them to ask for help as well. As much as you share with them of what you are as a person you realise that somewhere down the line you are doing the 'practice what you preach' thing. You just can't tell your kids that it's OK to be vulnerable, you can't just tell them that it is OK to cry. Sometimes you will have to break down in front of them and that they should also be okay with it. That's one of the lessons that they have to learn."

Kajol married Ajay Devgn in 1999. Nysa was born to them in the year 2003. The couple welcomed their son Yug in 2010. Being a 'famous mother' to her daughter Nysa Devgan, Kajol spoke about the challenges she faced while bringing up her daughter in the public eye. She said, "One of the biggest aspects of bringing up a daughter in the public eye is the fact that our personal relationship needs to be really really strong. Because there is no nobody else that she can have these conversations with. There is only me to come to for her to discuss. I mean Ajay and me, of course. And that's the fulcrum of Masha's and her mother's relationship. Because there they are strong together. Because they've always been only them. They have always been "just them" constantly, and there has been no third person involved in it. It was just Masha and her mother discussing everything from every aspect to the marriage aspect to the moment Masha gets married to and to whom she gets married to and why she is getting married to him, all of that. So I think Marsha puts it amazingly in a dialogue. She is like 'My mother has always supported me throughout everything and vice versa'. You will see her supporting her mother unconditionally, throughout the film. So I think, I hope I have that kind of relationship with my daughter. I believe I do have that kind of relationship with her. Time will prove me right and wrong."

Tribhanga: Tedhi Medhi Crazy released on January 15 on Netflix. The movie tells the story of a family going back and forth through three generations, from the late 1980s to the present day. It narrates the story of three distinct women and their unconventional life choices. The film, written and directed by Renuka Shahane, also features Tanvi Azmi, Mithila Palkar, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Kanwaljeet Singh, Manav Gohil and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi.
