Abhishek Bachchan caught up with mid-day.com to speak about his journey in films over the pass 22 years, his OTT projects- 'Breathe,' 'Bob Biswas' and 'Dasvi,' 'Bob Biswas' getting a TV debut, his upcoming projects and more.

It's been 22 years since your debut 'Refugee' with Kareena Kapoor Khan...

I can’t believe it, it feels like I started two years ago. You sometimes look back and feel, where did all that time go! The memories are still so fresh, it’s been a wonderful journey. I’m still as excited as I was on day one. I look forward to a lot of more work and there are so many stories still left to be told, with a lot of enthusiasm.

Your dad and superstar Amitabh Bachchan has been taking to Twitter to share appreciation posts for your work, how does that feel as an actor?

You’re elated! I’m not just his son but a huge fan. Your idol watching your work, let alone appreciate it, is a huge morale booster.

Do you also feel people have been harsh on you because of your background?

I just concentrate on my work, I don’t think about it.

You have been part of projects like 'Breathe,' 'Bob Biswas' and 'Dasvi' on OTT. Would you agree OTT gives actors more scope to experiment with different content?

I’m not a big fan of the word ‘experimenting’ Every actor wants a job but apart from that, wants to be part of a good film. It’s not about experimenting, it’s about telling a good story! We have been blessed with another platform (OTT) where we can tell good stories and showcase our work.

'Bob Biswas' is also making its World television premiere on Zee Cinema! What memories does that film bring back?

Fond memories! It’s important for me to look back and have happy memories of the film, it’s something I lay emphasis on! The fate of the film is in the hands of the audience, what is in my hands is looking back at the journey fondly.  I loved the team that was working on it, I loved the material and it was a lot of fun. My mother is Probhashi Bengali but Kolkata has always been a city that given our family a lot of love, it’s always a pleasure to go there and make films.

With theatres opening up again, what is it that you look forward to most?

Theatres are second to none and something that’s never going to be replaced. There may be a lot of discussion but theatres are not going anywhere and I love that! Go to a movie theatre, buy popcorn, cold drink and samosas and enjoy films like they are supposed to be! I’m even happier that people are going back to the theatres and we get to see the House full signs.

Where do we see you next?

There are two films that are almost complete, one is 'SSS7' which I’ve produced and acted in. There’s another film with R Balki called 'Ghoomer,' that is almost complete. I’m also in the process of completing the next season of 'Breathe.'
