Katrina Kaif may have replaced Priyanka Chopra in Salman Khan-starrer Bharat, but for director Ali Abbas Zafar, it was a deja vu moment. In his 2014 film Gunday, he was keen on casting Katrina Kaif since he had worked with her in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011).

He assumed that she would give her nod to Gunday, but Kat preferred to be part of the Hrithik Roshan-starrer Bang Bang (2014). Later, PeeCee was roped in for the Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor-starrer. The casting game continues.

Now, Katrina has stepped into a role which was originally being played by Priyanka Chopra, who according to Zafar, opted out of the project "in the Nick of time". His announcement alluded to US media speculations about Priyanka's engagement to American singer-songwriter Nick Jonas.

Katrina, who has given several hits with Salman at the box office, will play his love interest in Bharat, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The three are reuniting for the period drama after Tiger Zinda Hai. Zafar had also directed Katrina in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, and is looking forward to working with his "three collaboration buddy".
