When Bollywood 'created' medical miracles years ahead of reality

Don't make fun of Bollywood films and their medical miracles. A recent 'real' medical miracle has proved the old adage 'Truth is stranger than fiction' right.

While people may find the manner in characters in Bollywood movies are cured miraculously hilarious, Bollywood veteran Rishi Kapoor and actor Riteish Deshmukh want to 'prove' that Hindi films are more science-fiction than fiction and well ahead of their times.

An American woman who was blind for more than 20 years regained her sight after falling and hitting her head at her Florida home. 70-year-old Mary Ann Franco gradually became blind after a car accident in 1993. After two decades spent in darkness, another accident and an operation later Mary recovered her sight, The development may have left her doctors and science baffled, but not Bollywood.

Rishi and Riteish, are known for their sense of humour, and Bollywood's 'funnymen' took to Twitter to show their appreciation for the 'farsightedness' of the film industry.

Rishi Kapoor went into nostalgic mood and recollected his 1977 film 'Amar Akbar Anthony' (AAA), in which Nirupa Roy had gained back her eyesight after hitting her head.

Rishi questioned all those who had laughed at Manmohan Desai for the the absurdity in the movie and is currently awaiting another miracle shown in 'AAA' -- that of three brothers giving blood to their mother.

The first scene of AAA has Nirupa Roy receiving blood from three 'random' people. What film watchers had found even more unbelievable was the fact that the blood from the three donors was defying gravity and travelling 'up' to the bottle without any machine and going into her blood stream directly.

He also listed a couple of other 'medical marvels' that took place in Amar Akbar Anthony.

Riteish in his usual 'tongue-in-cheek' manner said that the Indian film industry had discovered this miracle much before America and asked his followers to suggest more filmy miracles.

After it was author Arthur Conan Doyle who said, "Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent."
