Our sources say that Ravi Chopra’s family is seething with fury after a group of moneylenders went to town after a court ruling, openly discussing the family’s financial problems. Our source close to the family says, “This despite the confidentiality clause they had signed!”
The Chopra family is also alleging that the moneylenders are seeking revenge through unlawful means. A family friend says, “The original claim made by the moneylenders was about R 55 crore. However, Chopra’s lawyers brought it down to R 32 crore. Naturally, the aggrieved party (moneylenders) is now upset and thus spoke about the case in public.”
The court had ruled that the Chopra family would have to settle the amount in six months. The family friend adds, “Since the information has been leaked out, it has put the Chopra family on the backfoot. It will now force the family to sell their assets at a much lower price as buyers would term it as a ‘distress’ sale.”
