Arunoday Singh has been attracting attention, thanks to the risque trailers of Pooja Bhatt's Jism 2, in which he romances adult film star, Sunny Leone. While the film's publicity plays on the sex quotient, the actor feels there is more to the movie than its lovemaking scenes

Performing lovemaking scenes is not rocket science: Arunoday Singh

Is there more to Jism 2 than its eroticism?
There is much more to Jism 2 than just the love scenes — there’s passion, love, anger, and thrill. Tagging the film as an erotic thriller is doing it injustice. I would call Jism 2 a romantic thriller.u00a0

Pooja Bhatt

It is Sunny Leone’s first Hindi film. What did you think of her?
She is very hardworking and sweet. She studied hard and learnt all the dialogues and their meaning. She is extremely professional. I don’t think who you are and where you come from makes any difference to whether you can act.

Was it tough to do the erotic scenes?
Performing bold scenes is not rocket science. I am a human being and romance comes naturally to me, as it does to any other person. I am sexy, just like any other human being.

Did director Pooja Bhatt choreograph the intimate scene down to every last movement and detail?
There were times when Pooja would give us each and every detail of how a scene should progress; but often she just went with the flow.

How important is it for you to be comfortable with a co-star before you do an erotic scene with her?
Before enacting lovemaking scenes, it is important that the actors get acquainted with one another. This helps to portray chemistry onscreen. I didn’t make any special effort as such, but I try to make my co-stars comfortable.

Did sparks fly while performing lovemaking scenes?
There’s always some spark, because you are trying to portray an emotion realistically. If you’re playing a character who is attracted to somebody, it is always good if you are attracted to the person in real life too. But you aren’t really trying to take it somewhere. You are just doing your job. If you are lucky, the person you are working with has a similar approach — you keep it all only on the sets.

Who, among the two of you, will stand out in the lovemaking scenes?
I think men will love watching Sunny Leone and women will love watching me.

Any scene that you found really challenging to perform?
Yes, there is one. When my character, Ayaan, had to show his true side to Sunny’s character, Izna, and expose his vulnerability to the woman he loves. It was a bit of a task. However, the scene has turned out really well.

Randeep Hooda, who plays the other hero in Jism 2, replaced you in Heroine. How does it feel to miss out on such a big project?
These changes often happen in the film industry. I don’t look back in anger; there will be many projects coming my way in the future. I wish Randeep luck for Heroine. He is a great guy. We hung out a lot during the shooting schedule of Jism 2.

The Bhatts are known for repeating their actors. Are you hoping for a long-term liaison with them?
I had a great time working with them. Apart from the Bhatts, I want to work with Sudhir Mishra again. Sudhir and I will surely team up again. I find Sudhir and Mahesh on the same intellectual level.
