Janhvi, family trolled for celebrating birthday 10 days after Sridevi's death

The legendary Sridevi, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at age 54 on February 24 in Dubai after attending nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding celebrations. Her death has left family, friends and fans reeling in shock, grief and utter disbelief. The actress was laid to rest last week with full state honours. Her daughter Janhvi Kapoor, who is set to make her Bollywood debut this year with Dhadak, posted an emotional message on social media after her mother's passing, has her 21st birthday with a quite celebrations hosted by half-sister Anshula Kapoor.

Janhvi's birthday dinner was attended by sister Khushi, uncles Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, cousins, Sonam Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor and other family members. Sonam took to Instagram to offer a glimpse of the celebrations. Some angry netizens immediately targeted the star daughter and her famous kin for celebrating her birthday just mere 10 days after her mother breathed her last. Some users found it insensitive and heartless and condemned her for partying after such a huge loss. There were many who came to her aid and defended her for celebrating her birthday.

Janhvi Kapoor has received strong support from half-siblings Arjun Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor and cousin Sonam Kapoor after her mother Sridevi's untimely demise. Anshula came to Janhvi's aid when an Arjun Kapoor fan trolled her. This led to Janhvi following Anshula on Instagram. Sonam wrote an emotional message on her birthday which read, "To one of the strongest girls I know, who became a woman today. Happy birthday jannu. @janhvikapoor #21stbirthday (sic)".

Janhvi Kapoor is the older daughter of Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor and the late Sridevi. She is slated to debut this year with Dhadak opposite Shahid Kapoor's half-brother Ishaan Khatter. Dhadak is a remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat.
