The actor refused to go nude for a gangrape scene in Manish Gupta's new film Hostel, that released on Friday

In one scene, Tiwari, who plays a college bully in the film, had to rape a young student. While he agreed to that scene, on the day of the shoot, Tiwari was seen walking off the set shouting, 'Are we making a porn film here?'

According to people on set, Tiwari even called Gupta "a pervert".

Reason? Gupta asked Tiwari to whip out his 'joystick' for the gangrape scene.

"Yes, I did make the request. It was a sequence where a fresher was being gangraped by the college bully and his friends. I wanted to shoot the sequence in graphic detail to bring out the repugnance of a situation when a newcomer is brutally traumatised. But Mukesh walked out, and I had to use a body double," admits Gupta.

Gupta says the actor had not been forewarned about the exposure. "I hadn't told him beforehand that he would have to unzip, but when I did, he seemed disgusted."

Though the actor's disgust seems reasonable, Gupta insists it was the right way to portray the horror of the scene.

"I tried explaining to Mukesh that I wanted to show the blood and brutality of rape."

Vinamra Pancharia plays the victim in the movie.

The gangrape sequence could be the most graphic scene ever shown on Indian film. The film's leading man, Vatsal Seth refused to go naked for the ragging scene.

"Vatsal got cold feet at the last minute. That certainly reduced the impact of the scene."

Seth's character is also sexually assaulted in the film. Seth says he was so traumatised by the experience of playing a student who is ragged, he had to undergo a few sessions of therapy.
